Digitization is an integral part of the 21st-century industry. Manufacturing companies must respond to changing customer requirements, the arrival of new technologies or market developments. One of the many benefits of digitization is being more reactive to these changes. We are aware of this, and that is why we have set goals for this area. We are now working on achieving them.
At the beginning of the year, we launched a project at Chemosvit Folie, the aim of which is to extend the monitoring and prescribing of production and technical parameters at the department of rotogravure printing, flexo printing, and lamination.
For this purpose, we chose the D2000 application, and there were several reasons for this choice. The application is suitable for data collection and visualization from industrial automation machines, technological process control whilst enabling the existing and new company systems integration.
The initial stages of the process consist of standard steps:
The first step is to implement the audited material flow.
It consists of automated data collection from printing machines, such as production speed or automated cut scanning. In this way, hours worked, production, poor quality, electricity consumption per minute and other data is recorded 24 hours a day. Through an online interconnection with the Orion ERP system, employees are also accurately identified and registered in the production process.
The second step is to implement an audited technological flow.
Technological parameters are captured during production and archived on a long-term basis. Thanks to this, we have the possibility of technology control of the process as well as management of productivity and quality of production.
Today, some devices and departments (lamination) also use documentation and prescribing production parameters in electronic form. The new system will also enable fully automated digital monitoring of deviations in individual sections of production according to an electronic regulation and control of parameters and their values.
The connection of the recorded technological parameters with the processes of regulation and quality management and product parameters will enable us to reduce poor quality and react in a preventive fashion before the problem arises.
At the same time, it brings an opportunity and a challenge for managers to supplement their training in the field of data processing for production processes for new and constantly changing products and raw materials. It is also a chance to provide guarantees and certifications to customers who are becoming more and more uncompromising in safety and product quality requirements.
