Terichem Tervakoski was established in March 1995 as a joint venture between CHEMOSVIT and AB Rani Plast Oy, building on their experience in the production and sale of capacitor films. It is currently the only European company that both manufactures and metallises films. In order to respond to the growing needs of the market, it will expand its machinery with a unique production line.
European rarity will contribute to employment
The new line will be the first of its kind in Europe. It will meet the growing demand for next-generation capacitors while contributing to the transition of production to new technologies based on the use of renewable energy sources.
Unlike existing lines, the stretching („lengthening“) of the film will use the LISIM (Linear Motor Simultaneous Stretching) method. In this method, the film is stretched in two directions (in width and length) simultaneously. The film is usually stretched first in length (MD – machine direction) and then in width (TD – transverse direction).
Commissioning is planned for the beginning of 2025 and will be accompanied by promotion of employment in the region, offering nearly 40 jobs.

Higher capacity and production of UHT films
The expansion of the LISIM production technology will significantly increase the capacity and efficiency of the production of thin and ultra-thin dielectric films. At the same time, the company will create suitable conditions for the production of high-temperature resistant films (UHT films).
The need for development of such product stems, among other things, from the coming generational renewal in semiconductor technology. Common silicon power semiconductor devices will be replaced by broadband devices. Examples of these are SiC-based power elements – prominent in, e.g., e-mobility.
UHT films reduce the size of manufactured components and increase their energy efficiency. Terichem Tervakoski is the first company in Europe to market this type of ultra-high-temperature film. The new technology will enable it not only to improve the parameters of its capacitor films, but also strengthen its market position.
