Virology Research Services Limited from London carried out laboratory tests in November 2020. The tests have confirmed that Prolen® Bodyfresh and Prolen® Siltex effectively protect from SARS-CoV-2 when in contact within 2 hours.
Until March 2020, these yarns have been tested only for antibacterial and antifungal properties. After the coronavirus pandemic broke out in Slovakia, we wanted to confirm that the yarns also protect against the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The products did not reach the laboratory until October, and they spent another two months on the waiting list. But it was worth the wait. Tests have shown that the yarns also have antiviral properties.
Prolen® Bodyfresh and Prolen® Siltex are polypropylene yarns treated with an antimicrobial additive based on silver and zinc ions. These active substances prevent the growth of bacteria, fungi, and viruses. They reduce unpleasant odours, ensure hygienic freshness and reduce the risk of cross-contamination.
That is why they are used for the production of medical material – clothing for healthcare professionals, protective gloves, face masks or bed linen. The hospital environment requires increased protection against infections. During the first wave of the pandemic, face masks were delivered to hospitals, care homes, ambulances, police and fire stations and many companies in Slovakia and abroad.
These yarns also have an ecological aspect. Their production is environmentally friendly. At the same time, Prolen® yarn is 100 % recyclable. Textiles made from it are intended for repeated use. Face masks made of this yarn are reusable, which means they have a lower environmental impact than disposable PPE masks.
Prolen® Bodyfresh and Prolen® Siltex show that at Chemosvit, we strive to come up with innovations and premium quality that meets the highest standards. At the same time, they are symbols that even at this time, we protect what matters most – human health and the environment.
